Senior Minister
The Rev. Dr. Susan Ward Diamond
The Rev. Dr. Susan Ward Diamond came to First Christian Church in May of 2003. During her ministry with us, we have discovered that Dr. Diamond has a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and a passionate commitment to sharing the Good News of God's love with the Montgomery community.
After completing her Master of Divinity degree from Brite Divinity School of Texas Christian University in 1990, Dr. Diamond began her ministry at First Christian Church in Naples, Florida, where she served for thirteen years as Senior Minister. During her tenure there, the church experienced significant growth in their ministry to children and youth, culminating in the establishment of a full-day preschool and a $1.2 million building and renovation of their church plant. In 2001, Susan received her Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Her project, Community Evangelism in an Ecumenical Context Through the Weekday Preschool, explored how churches can reach significant numbers of families with young children by connecting more fully with the preschool program.
Dr. Diamond brings an enthusiasm for ministry and a tremendous love for children, youth and adults that complements our Mission Statement of demonstrating and proclaiming God's joyful, unconditional love. We anticipate much growth in our community of faith under her leadership.
Susan is married to her husband of 27 years, Ron Diamond (who is a professional magician and stage hypnotist). They are the proud "parents" of their dog, Sweet Pea, a dove and a ferret named Weasel.

CHOIR DIRECTOR
Betty Nolan
Betty Nolan joined our ministry team in the early 1990's as First Christian's pianist. In 1996, she became our Choir Director. A Lawyer by day, Betty spends her evenings and weekends planning and orchestrating the music ministry of First Christian. She is responsible for our Adult and Children's Choirs and also plans and directs our yearly Christmas and Easter Cantatas.
Music has been a part of Betty's life as long as she can remember. When asked why being involved in the church choir is important to her she responded by saying, "Being involved in the choir enhances my personal beliefs and enriches my experience of the worship service."

NURSERY MINISTER
Judy Ballance
Judy joined our ministry team in the spring of 1993. Her gifts in ministry are countless and she makes a difference in the life of every child she teaches. Her best compliment can be seen in the faces of children who cannot wait to see Ms. Judy every Sunday, and children have even been known to protest (sometimes loudly) when it was time to leave after church!
Judy helps with every aspect of our children's ministry from Sunday School to Vacation Bible School as well as planning and hosting several fellowship events throughout the year. In addition, she supervises our nursery volunteers so that your infant will receive the best of loving care. We invite you to come and meet this wonderful minister of the Gospel every Sunday morning at First Christian Church.

Jean Longshore
Jean joined our ministry team in the summer of 1998 after retiring from the State of Alabama's Youth Services Department. A very talented and experienced administrator, Jean brings to our congregation's ministry many great gifts. In addition to being so talented, she is also a friendly and trustworthy addition to our team.

Lynn Gulledge
Lynn joined our ministry team in the mid 1990s. A long time church musician, she brings with her incredible experience and talent. As a music teacher at Morningview Elementary School, Lynn lives out her dedication to music not only on Sunday but every day of the week. We are blessed to have a person with such talent on our team. We hope you will come and hear her gifts this Sunday!
YOUTH MINISTER
Su Ofe
Su came to work with our Youth three years ago, and what a blessing she is! During the week, Su serves as Communications Director of Huntingdon College. On Wednesday evenings and on the weekends, she teaches and supports our young people. And this growing youth group loves Su. Already we have seen our numbers grow, and our youth ministry grow. Brenda Layton
Brenda began her new position at First Christian Church in January 2007. A CPA, Brenda makes sure our church finances and records are well managed, and that the church is faithful in its stewardship to its ministries. We are thankful for her gifts and her skills at First Christian Church.
