First Christian Church
On the journey of life, we experience a variety of different circumstances where the loving care of another person is essential to our well being. At First Christian Church, we seek to respond with pastoral care to all of life's varied circumstances. From our Pastor to our Elders to the average person in the pew, we are a congregation committed to caring for our brothers and sisters in Christ regardless of their situation in life. Some of our ministries are listed below.
Wedding Ministry -- At one of life's most important events, the church is called to be witness to God's blessing of the marital covenant. First Christian is happy to host your wedding (small fee for non-members), and our minister provides pre-marital counseling to any couple interested in marriage.
Pastoral Counseling -- Sometimes in life, we need the support of a non-judgmental and loving presence. Our pastor, the Rev. Dr. Susan W. Diamond, is available for pastoral counseling upon request. Regardless of what issue you may be facing, Reverend Diamond will help you to see God's presence in your life as well as help you find healing. He is also able to refer those who need additional help to area professionals. Hospital Visitation -- If you or a loved one are in the hospital for any reason and would like visitation and/or prayer, Reverend Diamond or one of our elders will be happy to come and visit in your time of need.
Homebound Visitation/Communion -- Sometimes, because of illness or infirmity, we are unable to attend church. In such cases, First Christian will bring church to you. Through a caring network of members, we provide home visitation to those in need and will be happy to deliver communion upon your request.
End of Life Ministry -- Eventually we will all be faced with end of life issues. Whether they are for ourselves or a loved one, when these needs arise, a caring community is essential. Reverend Diamond is available for funeral planning and presiding as well as consultation on issues such as Living Wills and Estate Planning (estate planning advice provided through our denomination's financial ministries).
