The Season of Lent 2012
"Lord, Teach Us to Pray"
The Season of Lent begins with a very special Ash Wednesday service February 22 as we are introduced to the Ignatian Examen. St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, developed the Daily Examen as a technique of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to detect God’s presence and discern God’s direction. It is an ancient practice in the church that can help us see God’s hand at work in our whole experience. During the Wednesdays of Lent, we will unpack the Examen more fully as we explore deepening our prayer lives.
On Sundays during the season of Lent we will look at Luke 11, where the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray. We will look at the Lord’s Prayer and the spiritual formation that comes from these amazing five petitions. Join us as we seek to deepen our spiritual lives through prayer this Lenten season.
