International Mission

First Christian Church has expanded its scope to include international missions by participating in mission work outside of our immediate area.

The Advent Conspiracy

During the season of Advent, the four Sundays leading up to Christmas, First Christian Church participates in the Advent Conspiracy project. During this time, we focus intentionally on worship, on spending less, on giving more, and on loving everyone. During Advent 2008, First Christian Church raised money to provide clean drinking water in the Chaco Region (South America). Enough money was raised to build 3 water tanks for 3 communities and 66 people.  During 2009, First Christian Church raised money during the Advent Conspiracy to support A Place of Hope, a newly established orphanage in an HIV/AIDS-prevalent area of Kenya.  Funds raised supported the building of a well.

International Mission Trips

In 2010, First Christian seized the opportunity to expand its mission partnership with A Place of Hope, sending seven of its members on a missionary trip in July 2010 to Maigori, Kenya. During the two-week mission trip, the team members led a Vacation Bible School for around 700 children, helped lay the foundation for a Place of Hope dormitory, and led a leadership conference for local pastors and lay leaders.

Guatemala 2012

During the summer of 2012, a group of youth and adults from FCC will serve in Guatemala.  Fundraising for this mission experience is ongoing.
